Harriet Ashworth - N0858269 - Textiles-8499.jpg

My Name is Harriet, I study Textile Design and specialise in embroidery. My final year project titled "Couture Club" is a collection inspired by rave culture, taking inspiration from club aesthetic and atmosphere such as laser lights, smoke, music, and themes such as psychedelia, celebrating the exciting and unpredictable energy of clubbing. The collection was developed in recognition of the global restrictions imposed during the pandemic. After living in recluse people are ready to make up for lost time and celebrate in style! The vibrant colour pallet encapsulates the electronic and energetic feel of clubbing. With-in the project I focused on words such as glitch, distortion, electronic and digital. My work combines elements of print, digital and hand embroidery to create interactive tactile surfaces. A topic within my project is distortion and to convey this I have incorporated laser cut fabrics overlapping geometric patterns. I have also included reflective materials to interact with the club surroundings.
